“ On the occasion of the publication by AAM of the book devoted by Clé Millet Architectes to the Marigny Theatre, Stéphane Millet details in this article the difficulties inherent in the restoration operations required by this type of building. Establishing, in consultation with the stakeholders of the Regional Directorates of Cultural Affairs (Drac), an inventory distinguishing the intangible heritage components from those that may evolve constitutes the delicate prelude. This is followed by the development of solutions reconciling the preservation of the integrity of the architecture and its décor with regulatory constraints, whether structural, thermal, safety-related, scenographic in perpetual evolution, or, more prosaically, related to the stability of the building. It is this aspect of the mission to safeguard a listed public facility that is mainly developed, to such an extent did the rehabilitation-extension of the Marigny Theatre accumulate technical challenges associating the traditional structures of Charles Garnier with contemporary and forward-looking materials and construction methods ” (excerpt from In Situ No. 53).
