SALLE RÉMY PFLIMLIN - CNSMDP

The Lyric Art Hall, now known as the Salle Rémy Pflimlin, is one of the three public halls of the Paris Conservatoire, a professional higher education institution for music, dance and sound professions, under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, currently welcoming nearly 1,400 students and housed in the West building of the Cité de la Musique, designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc.

This hall, which had not undergone any works since its construction in 1990, was the subject of a partial renovation campaign carried out while the building remained in operation (with staff and public present). Maintaining the full operation of the building was therefore a priority objective.

The works programme included:

• the complete renovation of the hall (raked seating parquet floors, replacement of seats, ceiling);
• the renovation and partial replacement of the wooden wall claddings in the hall for the integration of acoustic correction elements in the auditorium and on stage;
• the implementation of stage equipment, including the integration of an open control booth at the top of the raked seating;
• the overhaul of the stage floor with requalification of the admissible live load;
• renovation of dressing rooms and ancillary spaces.
