Award of the Palais Garnier stage renovation to CMI
Paris (75)
At the end of a restricted consultation, the Paris National Opera has entrusted us with the renovation of all the stage equipment, the true beating heart of an institution with global influence. It is both an honour and a form of continuity, modestly embraced: Charles Garnier, Grand Prix de Rome in 1848, finds in Stéphane Millet, current president of the association of laureates of this prize, as well as in Perrine MILLET and Gianluca CAPUTO, ardent defenders of the operational dimension of his work.
Working together with the stage design consultancy Kunkel, Clé Millet is seizing this opportunity to defend values that are dear to it: the culture of Opera, together with the promotion of an innovative approach to digital mock-ups for the staging of lyric works and, more generally, live performance…
…In the face of cultural imperialisms, this is a long-term commitment in favour of a more open creativity and easier co-productions. The team’s European cross-disciplinarity aims to energise an art form rooted in its own genes while opening it to new forms.
