FOLIE L1

Paris (75019) - France

Rehabilitation and extension of Folie L1 into a reception center for the Parc de la Villette site

The Folie L1 at Parc de la Villette, designed by Bernard Tschumi, punctuates one of its entrances as a landmark. It serves as a reception and information point.

Following the complete rehabilitation of the contemporary music venue Trabendo (Folie R7), Clé-Millet International repeats this high-visibility and communication-oriented operation.

The works include a complete rehabilitation of the original construction, both the skin and the skeleton, dealing with complex challenges of an open metal frame and enamelled sheet metal cassettes, where new thermal insulation solutions must be integrated.

A contemporary extension further complicates this exercise by introducing the challenging harmonization of an addition meant to double the reception areas. Carrying a new function and an unexpectedly innovative symbol, the vertical structure now houses, in its base, a reversible heat pump ensuring energy-efficient and environmentally friendly air treatment year-round.
