L'EMBARCADERE - BOULOGNE S/MER

Boulogne-sur-mer (62) - France

The cultural and events complex "L'Embarcadère" is the flagship of the rehabilitation of the Éperon site. It holds a focal position in relation to the city alongside the former maritime station of Boulogne-sur-Mer.

The project is housed under a monumental low-carbon concrete envelope with three functional segments:

  • A large multipurpose hall with a capacity ranging from 1800 seated places to 3000 people,
  • A contemporary music hall with seating for 280 people and a capacity for 400,
  • A central services block comprising all technical functionalities related to storage, administration, artists, technicians, as well as commission rooms allowing for conference use.

The project addresses environmental objectives of integration and sustainability through the following measures: Integration with the Site, Achieved through the materiality and form of the envelope. Acoustic Solutions, Addressing acoustic issues through the use of insulating envelopes. Energy Efficiency, Responding to energy concerns with high-performance results in production and management savings, facilitated by an appropriate Building Management System (GTC). Indoor Air Quality, Considering the quality of indoor air. Protection of Protected Species, Taking into account the defense of protected species, mainly seagulls and gulls.

These measures collectively contribute to a project that is environmentally conscious, integrates well with the surroundings, and is designed for long-term sustainability.
