THÉÂTRE DE MENNECY

Mennecy (91)

Rehabilitation and extension of a multi-purpose performance hall.

The Mennecy theatre is part of a group of buildings located within the Parc de Villeroy. This particular location, together with the desire to integrate the project with the neighbouring buildings, guided us in choosing a redesign of the spaces driven by a strong concern for environmental management.

The works included the following:

  • Complete refurbishment of the auditorium, increasing capacity from 385 to 665 seats, with modularity of both the auditorium and the pit.
  • Extension of the stage volume, including full stage equipment with the installation of 13 motorized battens.
  • Extension of the areas dedicated to artists and construction of underground spaces for artists.
  • Creation of a foyer to welcome the public, also designed to function as a temporary exhibition space.

The renovation project was carried out using timber-frame walls with wood-fibre insulation. The façades are clad in slate. All interior spaces were refurbished.
